    History

    The territory of Kyrgyzstan has a very long and amazing history dating back to the first millennium BC. The territory of Kyrgyzstan was always the main interest for occupation by many different people, lots of troops such as Genghis - Khan, crossed the region and left here traces of their culture during the ages.

    There found 5000-year-old stone inscriptions in Kyrgyzstan and the 3000-year-old town of Osh point at the fact that first people have been living thousands of years ago here. The nomadic Kyrgyz tribes are one of the oldest tribes inhabiting in the territory of Central Asia and they came here about 2000 years ago. They moved to the south descending from the Siberian region such as Yenisey and they set the Kyrgyz Khanate at the beginning in the 9th century.

    The Khanate of Karakhanids was established by the Persian tribes during the 10th century. One of the most significant cities was the town Balasaguni, which was the capital of this statement and can be visited even today. You can see the Burana tower there. It takes you only 1 hour driving from Bishkek.

    The empire was conquered by Genghis Khan in the 13 th century, who set the Mongol Khanate. After the death of the powerful emperor named Mongke the Khanate was divided up into many small kingdoms, and the region of today's Kyrgyzstan was a part of the Chagatai Khanate.

    Later it was known as the Kokand Khanate, ruled by Uzbeks the region advanced part of the Russian Empire after a revolt in 1873 - 1874, and it became the part of the Soviet Union subsequent the October Revolution  since 1936.

    The country became self-governing and independent in 1991, August, 31, and since then it is known as the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
